Justin Bieber is someone who is definitely in the public eye. I have loved him since 2009, and nothing will change that. He has definitely done some stupid stuff that has made people think he is immature. Despite what he does or people say, I still support him. I do not support his decisions though. People and the media can't seem to get passed the fact that he isn't the same boy who sang "Baby". If someone has the chance, they will hate on him, but I can see where they are coming from because he gives them a reason to. Being a "Belieber" I love him and his music. He has matured musically in the past few years and he has finally put out HIS album. In December he released Journals, which he wrote entirely himself. It's a different sound for Justin and it is definitely more grown up.
This album features 18 songs that, as I previously said, Justin wrote himself. All of them are different, but most talk about his issues and feelings about his relationship and breakup with two year girlfriend, Selena Gomez. When the album released, it went straight to number one on the iTunes chart, even surpassing Beyoncé. Sadly his album didn't stay there for very long. The way I see it, is that the way he has been acting, has not made anyone even want to give his music a chance. People don't see that he actually does have talent, and loves music.
My favorite song on the album would definitely be Roller Coaster. The song talks about all of a sudden being in a bad spot in a relationship and eventually breaking up but wanting to be able to get back together. It gives insight to the way he may have felt In his breakup. I love the way the music is, the way the beat flows it feels like a roller coaster. Everything is electronic, to the fast up tempo beat, to the slow moving beat. The lyrics flow so well with the music, it seems effortless. This song shows the maturity Justin has in not only song writing but his voice itself. The album also features different artists, all being rappers and r&b artist. He worked with Big Sean, who he had worked with on his previous album Believe, Lil Wayne, R Kelly, Future and Chance the Rapper. Working with these artists has brought him more attention from different people who follow the artists who he collaborated with. His song with Chance the Rapper, Confident, was especially popular because it was released as a single. A lot of Chance the Rapper fans liked the song and the single did pretty well. My favorite collaborations would have to be Memphis and Backpack. Memphis features Big Sean and the song is a lot different than their previous song. It talks about seeing this girl and really wanting to pursue talking to her. Big Sean's rap has also matured since the As Long As You Love Me. The rap talks about wanting to take this girl home, and I dont think they just want to hang out.... The beat in this song in contagious, and is upbeat. Certain words are sunchronized with the beat and it matches perfectly from the "boom, boom, booms." and the way Justin says certain things. Backpack is definitley the most interesting song on the album. It talks about Justin finding an alien after he crashes in its UFO and keeping it in his backpack. It talks about becoming friends with the alien as well, I personally have never heard about a song where someone finds an alien and wants to become its friend. As Lil Wayne enters the song, he raps about being the alien but using Lil Wayne as a diguise. Towards the end, there is a guitar solo and it really adds to the song and I really wasnt expecting it. The way the guitar comes in is very strong and powerful, kind of showing the fight for the "alien" to stay and try and get through everything that is happening. As I think about the song, I kind of think of it as trying to protect someone from the outside world because its not always nice and warm, people can be harsh and cold. I also see it like Justin wanting to keep someone close to him that he trusts and doesnt want to lose them, as the lyrics say:
"Before you came around I was in a rut
